RABA Services Youtube Down

Around 9:20 AM (GMT+8) 17th Oct 2018 (today), people across the world reported have been getting ‘Error 500’ when attempting to access content in Google’s own video streaming platform – Youtube.

Currently, the website is either not loading, or when it does, refusing to play any videos. Only showing an error message ‘An error occured. Please try again later. (Playback ID: xxxxxx)’

From the way of this incident occurs, it seems as Youtube is currently having a SQL Injection attack, where it looks like everything is slowly wiped off the database, same goes to what recursive malware would do. If not both, it could be an attempt of DDoS attack on the entire Youtube platform.

In a Twitter post, Youtube commented “Thanks for your reports about YouTube, YouTube TV and YouTube Music access issues. We’re working on resolving this and will let you know once fixed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will keep you updated.”

This could be one of the largest cyber attacks occurs since last year Ransomware attack.

== UPDATE ==
Since around 10:45 AM today, it seems like Youtube platform is back and working as usual. We’re still waiting for an explanation from Youtube regarding the errors / attack.
